Drum & Bass TAGGED SOUND

Although Drum and Bass is one of my favourite styles of electronic music, during the last decade, the genre got contaminated with low-level quality sound. In the late 2000s, it was developing nicely, with a gentle touch of the Funky and Jazz sound. In the mid-2000s, D&B turned to a very alternative path, and the producers were starting to experiment with hard and distorted sound making the style one of the heaviest to consume.

This dark path took the prime, and it started the dark age for the style. Unfortunately, this once lovely and soft sound could be set side by side with style like Schranz. For half of the decade, the music was trenched into underground events, not going far from the local gang garage. It took a while until gifted producers set D&B back on track with mainstream styles, where it belongs. Producers like Rudimental and Sigma did a remarkable job giving it a new shine.

As a DJ, I’m trying to avoid unnecessary noise aggression in Drum and Bass. Although, there are some artists and track, like “Mr. Happy – DJ Hazard & D Minds” considered as a masterpiece.
